I walked cautiously up the chipped
wooden steps that led to Edna's Tower. I began to examine the property and realized many things were left neglected awhile
ago. The backyard looked as though it were a jungle and the paint was peeling from the house. There were many bricks missing
from the exterior of the house. Putting all of this aside I reached for the metal door knocker and heard the deep thud as
it hit the wooden door. A few minutes later a gnarled over old man opened it. He was Edna's butler and led me to the room
where his master was patiently waiting. She was reading a book with the title of Neopia's Finest Potion Recipes. I quietly
walked in and had a seat on the couch in front of her. She either did not notice me or acted as though she hadn't... she simply
continued to read. I began to look around the room and noticed that things were not much better on the inside. There were
cobwebs in every corner of the ceiling and on every drape. There were layers upon layers of dust piled upon the bookshelves,
and carelessly left on very old tomes. Finally, Edna put aside her book and reached her hand out towards me.
"I am
Edna.. the wicked witch that lives in the Haunted Woods." She had an evil smirk on her face but I brushed that aside. I shook
her hand and introduced myself. I proudly told her I was a member of the Silver Moon Guild. "The Silver Moon, huh?" she
said thoughtfully... 'why yes, I've heard of it before. Aren't you guys all about light and goodness and helping needy Neopians?
Why would you want an interview with me?" "Well, you are right about one thing...we do like to help Neopians but we are
not all about goodness. You cannot have goodness without evil and there are many evil things about us. It evens things out
and creates a balance. I wanted this interview with you because you always have interested me and we are getting ready to
put out our Halloween edition of the Silver Press." I replied. She began to chuckle to herself "What interests you about
me?" Fearing that I might have treaded too far into deep water, I quickly thought up something that may sound nice to
this witch. "Well, Ive always thought about moving to the Haunted Woods. I know you have lived here in this house all your
life... I'd like to know how you feel about this neighborhood you reside in?" "Well I wouldn't have lived here all my
life if I didn't like the neighborhood.... would I?!! I don't think so deary. I don't like to be bored... oh no... that's
one thing Edna doesn't like at all." "Are there any tips you may have to someone who is a new resident of the Haunted
Woods?" I asked cautiously, afraid that I hadn't yet gotten myself completely out of trouble. "Well, most of the
folks around here are decent... if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. They would probably act friendly towards
you if you met them in the street. However, you do NOT want to go out at night.. period!!! Oh don't get me wrong...
it used to be safe at night but recently it has become very dangerous." "What has changed? Why is it not safe anymore?"
At this time I was very interested in what she was about to say. "Well, there is a monster that comes out at night.
No one knows what it is but recently it has killed many people who were out at night. Now we have to lock all of our windows
and doors, and make sure that we are safely secure inside before the sun has fully sunk below the horizon. It's a terrible
shame... and all of that howling keeps me up at night.. but other than that it's a wonderful place to live." She smile at
me warmly. "It sounds wonderful, I'm going to start searching for a house that suits me. I've heard that you make
potions for all of the residents here, can you tell me a little bit about that?" "Oh yes, I love making potions.
EVeryone that wants something comes to me and I help them out. It doesn't matter what their problem is... I will cure it.
Some people want someone to love them, others want to get even with someone else, and there are some people who desire beauty.
Edna the witch can cease anyone's suffering... she is a miraculous being!" She began to cackle wildly. "Is
it difficult to brew these potions?" "Well some experience is necessary... the potions don't work every time
but mostly it's because of the brewer. You become better as you experiment. I always tell my customers that there is a possibility
that it may not work, and if that occurs they are to return to my tower and I will take another shot at it. Of course... I
do this for free since they have already paid me for the potion once before. See, I'm not really as evil as everyone says...
I deal business fairly. Oh... and how silly of me, would you like something to drink?" "I would love
that... do you have any Neocola?" "No deary, of course not, but I will have William bring you something
you will enjoy very much!" She proceeded to call over her butler, William, by ringing a tiny silver
bell on a table next to her chair. He immediately appeared in the room as though he had been standing outside the door the
whole time. As she ordered my drink for me I beagn to wonder if it was a good idea to accept a drink from a witch that lives
in the Haunted Woods if you have no clue what it was. Nonsense, I told myself, she has been nothing but nice to me since I
got here... so I pushed all of my suspicions aside. In less than three minutes William had returned with my drink in a chilled
glass. I took a sip and set the glass beside me. I felt no change and it was actually quite delicious, so I was very glad
that I decided to get the drink. "Do you ever get lonely out here in the Haunted Woods?"
"What a strange question!" she laughed a little to herself, "of course not... I have many friends that keep me company. Besides,
my business keeps me quite occupied. Potions have a very high demand, you know?" "How much do you charge
for a potion?" "Well, you see... I have two different businesses. I will make potions speacially for
someone if they come and ask. Those can run anywhere between 5,000 and 1 million np. It just depends on what kind of potion
you want. Some are extremely rare and others are simple to concoct. Then, I also run another type of business kind of like
the faerie quests. This helps me obtain ingredients for the potions I am working on. Neopians will find me the item and then
I will reward them for their help. This can get pricey too but it is much cheaper than buying a potion."
The whole time I listened, I continued to drink from the glass, and soon I had finished off the last of the sweet beverage.
"What kind off ingredients do you need to make potions?" "Haha... you obviously know nothing of creating
a potion. Each one calls for different ingredients so the list is endless. But , nevertheless, to satisfy you I shall name
some. Vegeterian Cheeseburger, Kikoughela Drops, and Super Dooper Scooters are a couple. The list goea on and on." She seemed
to be enjoying herself and I was simply hoping that this was the truth. "What do you reward the people
with when they bring you the ingredients?" "Many different things..." she replied reflectively,"perhaps
a nice blumaroo steak and some neopoints. It all depends on the difficulty of the quest." "Sounds
like you are a very good neighbor to have, and you are an even better businesswoman. I'd like to thank you for this time you
have allowed me in your home. Unfortunately, I must be moving along now." "You're quite welcome
and I hope to run into you in the market. It'd be nice if you moved here." I got up and walked
out the way I had came with Edna following me. When we reached the front door she began laughing hysterically "that "drink"
you had was actually a potion to make everyone that sees you fall in live. Good luck having privacy now... haha. Just a bit
of fun!" and with those final words, she closed the door.
